RailTel to provide internet service during Durand Cup in Manipur

RailTel has been chosen to provide high-speed internet bandwidth for the live broadcast of football matches to be played during the Manipur leg of the Durand Cup tournament from August 18 to September 5, 2022.

RailTel will ensure that viewers can enjoy high quality live streaming of the 10 matches to be played at Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal on TV channels.

India’s most prestigious and historic football tournament, the Durand Cup, is taking place for the first time in more than one venue – Kolkata (West Bengal), Guwahati (Assam) and Imphal (Manipur).

In the Manipur leg of the tournament where 10 matches will be played, RailTel, a railway PSU, has been selected by the Manipur government to provide high speed internet bandwidth through modern fiber optic technology for broadcast live matches in Imphal.

In addition to the live broadcast of matches, RailTel also provides high-speed internet connectivity for the event offices, venue control room, security CCTV cameras and media center during the event. RailTel installs secure 1:1 internet rental lines of the highest quality for this purpose.

The current tournament is the 131st edition of the Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia, and it is the first edition since being recognized by the Asian Football Confederation. A total of 20 teams comprising of eleven Indian Super League (ISL) teams, five I-League teams and four Indian Armed Forces teams will battle it out for the prestigious title.

Imphal’s Khuman Lampak Stadium, which will host 10 matches, will see its capacity of more than 35,000 fully utilized.

Football being one of the most popular sports in all of North East India coupled with our name of this magnitude and stature being hosted in Manipur for the first time will attract fans from across the Manipur, maybe even the neighboring states of Nagaland and Mizoram as well.

Two local teams from Manipur, NEROCA and TRAU are among the participating teams in the tournament.
