Paragould gets faster internet service
PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) – Faster internet service is coming to Paragould.
Paragould Light Water and Cable now offers âfiber-to-the-homeâ Internet.
PLWC claims that this will not only improve internet speeds but also reliability, which means you will experience fewer issues with your connection.
Their previous system was 30 years old, so PLWC knew it was time to upgrade. This project has been underway for three years and construction is now complete.
So far, they have connected more than 11,000 people to the new service.
In the virtual world we live in, Darrell Phillips, the CEO, says he’s more than happy to have this resource available in the community.
âI think it couldn’t have happened at a better time because of the pandemic. This is a long term technology that should essentially solve a lot of problems for customers and give them as much broadband as they want, âsaid Phillips.
Phillips adds that Paragould is now a âGig City,â which means all residents and businesses now have access to one gigabit per second fiber-optic internet service.
Marcus Dowdy, head of broadband services, says this new technology will solve many problems.
âIt gives us more opportunities for more broadband speed; reliability has been multiplied by several, âsaid Dowdy.
Phillips says service calls have gone down, which means people are having fewer problems.
On July 21, they will have a âflipping the switchâ ceremony to mark the project’s competition.
