New Fiber Optic Internet Service in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — New jobs and Internet service choices will soon be available in Sioux City as Metronet begins construction.

According to a statement from the internet service provider, residents and businesses in Sioux City will soon be able to surf the web with “ultra-high-speed” internet through Metronet’s 100% fiber optic network.

The statement said construction had begun near Singing Hills Boulevard with the goal of bringing service to some residents by the end of 2022.

“As our city continues to grow, it’s important that our residents and businesses have choice in their services,” said Bob Scott, Mayor of Sioux City“Metronet’s investment in our community will provide Sioux City residents and businesses with additional options for broadband and Internet access.”

Interested residents can visit Metronet website and enter their home address to be notified when the service is available and find a plan to choose from. The release said Metronet trucks will be seen in some areas as they kick off pre-construction activities.

Pre-construction activities will include notifying residents by mail at least 30 days in advance of construction activities in their neighborhood. There will be additional displays, such as street signs that will be provided to let residents know when they will begin to see construction in their neighborhood.
