Comcast to Upgrade Internet Service in Parts of Armstrong County

Comcast announced that it is offering its fastest broadband Internet service to 21 additional communities in Armstrong County.

Comcast is one of a handful of Internet service providers serving Armstrong County, including Salsgiver Inc. and Windstream Communications.

Broadband service, known as gigabit service, will now be available to residential and commercial customers in Gilpin, Kiski, Parks, Bethel, Manor, Elderton, Dayton, Rural Valley, Cowanshannock, Pine, Madison, Burrell, Southbend, Rayburn, East Franklin, Sugarcreek, Mahoning, Valley, Boggs, Plumcreek and Washington Township.

“Well, it’s about time,” said Patrick Bono, secretary of the canton of Kiski.

“We have pretty bad internet here and it will be pretty cool,” he said.

But it is up to Internet service providers to offer service in any area. Bono added that the township had nothing to do with the provider companies.

Greg Wells, vice president of marketing at Comcast, said customers in the Armstrong County area can benefit from faster speeds, state-of-the-art gateways with WiFi 6 technology, WiFi coverage comprehensive, customized tools and controls, and advanced cybersecurity. protection.

Rural areas traditionally lack adequate Internet service. But improving Comcast’s service in Armstrong County may lend itself to other future upgrades, State Representative Donna Oberlander, R-Clarion said in a statement.

“The pandemic has underscored the need for a faster and more reliable internet,” she said. “I am delighted to see Comcast making these improvements in its service territory. “
