Comcast announced Tuesday that it will invest $22 million to expand service to 18,000 homes and businesses in Eagle Mountain over the next four years.

In 2023, residents of Eagle Mountain City will be able to access all of the company’s Xfinity services, including Xfinity internet, mobile, X1 cable and home security. In addition, Eagle Mountain businesses will have access to all Comcast Business services, including Ethernet, Internet, advanced voice solutions and video services.

“Providing our residents with another choice for cable and Internet service improves our residents’ quality of life,” Eagle Mountain Mayor Tom Westmoreland said in a news release. “We look forward to welcoming Comcast to our community.”

Comcast participates in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program, which provides eligible individuals with a $30 credit for Internet service.

Additionally, with this new initiative, eligible parties in Eagle Mountain City will have access to Comcast’s Internet Essentials program, which has connected 160,000 low-income Utahns to the Internet since 2011.

According to the press release issued by Comcast, Internet options will range from the Internet Essentials program, offering unspecified data speeds, to 1 gigabit broadband service.

“We are committed to supporting Utah’s growth plans by building infrastructure and bringing broadband to meet the state’s next-generation capacity needs,” said Bryan Thomas, vice president of Utah. network engineering for the Comcast Mountain West region, in the release. “Our fiber expansion at Eagle Mountain is the latest example of the significant investments we have already made in the state. Since 2019, we have invested $881 million in technology and infrastructure capital expenditures, taxes and fees, employee salaries and benefits, and charitable donations.

Eagle Mountain City is one of the fastest growing cities in the state, and the city is projected to have a population of 150,000 by 2050. Additionally, large companies like Google and Meta have either bought land or started building data centers. within the city limits.
